TLE 003® – Simple Machines & Early Engineering
Build. Explore. Discover How Things Work.
Young Learners | Hands-On Construction | Simple Machines • Mechanisms • Early Engineering
TLE 003® is a hands-on engineering course by The Little Engineer® that takes learners beyond basic block construction and introduces them to their first mechanical and engineering concepts.
Through building functional models, learners explore fundamental simple machines and mechanisms such as levers, inclined planes, pulleys, gears, wheels and worm gears. They begin to understand not only how to build a model, but also why and how it moves.
From Building to Understanding Mechanisms
The progression is:
Build → Observe → Move → Experiment → Understand
Learners discover how different mechanical components can transfer motion, change direction, reduce effort, and create movement.
The course progresses through Introduction → Lever → Inclined Plane → Pulley → Gears → Worm Gear, followed by Focus activities and Competition challenges where learners apply the concepts they have acquired.
What Will Learners Develop?
TLE 003® develops construction skills, mechanical reasoning, spatial awareness, observation, fine motor coordination, logical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and early engineering thinking.
Most importantly, it creates the bridge between creative construction and mechanical engineering.
Build It. Move It. Understand It.
TLE 003® — A young learner's first journey into machines and mechanisms.
