TLE 004® – Introduction to Screenless Coding
Build. Think. Code. Make It Move.

Young Learners | Screenless Coding | Construction • Logic • Algorithms • Engineering

TLE 004® – Introduction to Screenless Coding is a hands-on STEM course by The Little Engineer® that introduces young learners to the fundamentals of coding and computational thinking without using a computer, tablet, or iPad.

Learners first construct real working models and then use a physical coding controller to program their movements and actions.

Instead of dragging blocks on a screen, children learn to think about what they want their model to do, organize the instructions in the correct sequence, and enter those commands directly through the controller.

From Construction to Coding Logic

TLE 004® creates an important bridge between mechanical construction and programming.

The learning journey becomes:

Build → Think → Sequence → Code → Run → Observe → Improve

Learners begin to understand one of the most fundamental concepts in programming:

A program is a sequence of instructions given in the correct order to achieve a desired result.

This allows children to develop coding logic while remaining actively engaged with a physical model rather than a screen.

Learning Through Real-World Themes

The course uses engaging models from familiar environments to make coding meaningful. Learners explore Amusement Park models such as the Swing, Seesaw, Merry-Go-Round and Spinning Top; People through models such as the Scarecrow and Hockey Player; Transportation through cars, helicopters, an amphibus and train; and Industry through models such as the Revolving Restaurant, Parking Gate, Factory, Drawing Machine, Spaghetti Machine, Hand Mixer, Fan, Crane and Raise the Flag.

Each model provides a new opportunity to combine construction, mechanisms, movement, sequencing and coding.

Screenless Coding: Learning Logic Before Screen Time

A major strength of TLE 004® is that learners can develop the foundations of programming without depending on a digital screen.

The physical controller introduces coding concepts through recognizable commands and actions, helping learners understand the relationship between:

Command → Sequence → Action → Result

They can immediately observe whether their algorithm works because the model physically performs—or fails to perform—the intended action.

That immediate feedback encourages learners to identify mistakes, change the sequence and try again, introducing debugging naturally at an early age.

What Will Learners Develop?

TLE 004® develops algorithmic thinking, sequencing, logical reasoning, problem-solving, construction skills, mechanical understanding, computational thinking, concentration, creativity, troubleshooting and early debugging skills.

Just as importantly, learners discover that coding is not about the screen—it is about thinking logically and giving a machine the right instructions.

Build It. Think It. Code It. Watch It Move.
